Scott was delighted with his girlfriend Dance Idol whilst Common Objective went terrific for Mark. Star Thoroughbreds Beleconi matched strides with Descarado who is heading to the Canberra Guineas on Sunday. The ex-kiwi lines up for his first Aussie start following just the one barrier trial at Rosehill where he finished a most creditable 2nd to the G1 winner Triple Honour. He will wear blinkers as he did in New Zealand. Several of my readers have been giving me a bit of flack over my black book specials but I like him very much and think he will be very competitive on Sunday.
Dreamscape was super and he will be very competitive on Saturday in the Liverpool City cup.
The punters pal Geffen races next Tuesday and his work this morning with Ben in the saddle was spot on.
More Joyous was exactly that and Steve waxed lyrical when he jumped off the filly this morning. Soon after along came her boyfriend Dave who took control and gave her his special love and attention.
Gold Water was Mark's best of the morning - the mare has done a complete turn around since her last trial and I think that she and Montana Flyer can fight out the finish.
Viking Legend has come through his last run quite well and will head to the Guineas next Saturday.
Princess Quality, Steve was happy with the bonny mare as she bowled along over 1200m.
Knoxville and Benny and the Jet matched strides evenly whilst Teardrop Rock has grown about 6 inches and is now one seriously big filly.
Romantically and Marlina Rose were a sweet pair and I was extremely pleased with the work of Cap Dancer who is owned by Singo and his merry men. She has taken time to hit her straps but seems to have turned the corner and appears on track to contest a fillies and mares maiden on Saturday week.
Essence of Time and Missonet were a great pair as were Emotional Outburst and Show Dancer.
We have a very nice stayer in Atelier who scored his debut win yesterday at Wyong. As he came around the turn he was having a quick think - do I put my best foot forward or do I do what I did at Warwick Farm. I've kept the work up to this young colt as he can be a lazy customer who needs to be stood over. Nash didn't need to be told twice. His mother won over 3200m so it's only natural staying is his forte. He will go to a benchmark 70 3yo race on March 18th before heading to a better quality Saturday race. Exciting time for the owners who have been patient and were very thrilled when he won his maiden yesterday.
After the track this morning Damien whizzed me to Royal North Shore for a stress test. I'm sure all the people I work with think it would be a better idea if they went for the test. On to the treadmill I jumped - elevated and increasing speed I thought how the devil do I cope with this. Next thing I know the speed increases again and I am run off my feet. I can't run though I'm a fast walker but I can tell you I was hanging on for grim life, terrified I was going to fly off the back. There was a cartoon on the wall in front of me showing a poor person on the treadmill then a cleaner coming in and pulling the plug so he can start vacuuming. I won't tell you what happens to the patient. The doctor asked me If I would like the fan on and with sweat pouring down my face the answer was a definite yes. Thank goodness the agony came to a stop and I must say I was very glad to go home.
With my role as Ambassador for David Jones I wear many different hats. Today I did a segment for A Current Affair with Alex Perry, Emma Freedman and yours truly. Joining us were three ladies of different age groups with $1,000 to spend and we had to suggest to them their outfits. We all had great fun and the ladies adored choosing hats and dresses. My chosen lady Colleen selected a Trent Nathan suit and she looked super. All the girls had a ball and Alex Perry was marvellous and Emma is as cute as they come.
Tonight racing is at Canterbury and any of you following this blog must back in race 3 Kiss from a Rose. She is a particularly special filly who has been working with Maybe I and Gold Water and holding her own with these well-performed mares. Her gallops indicate she has improved dramatically.
