| This morning gallops and there was only one jockey on hand in Mark Newnham. Nash was stuck in Goulburn following a bad road accident on his way home from Canberra races and didn't get home till midnight. Descarado didn't get home till midnight and poor Blake rang to say his car was stolen from out the front of his house with all his riding gear in it. Once Were Wild takes a while to warm up but once she does she really has the most wonderful stride and is a real happy chappie. She enjoyed her final piece of work before she races on Wednesday at Canterbury where she will be partnered by Nash and will be hard-to-beat. Herculian Prince put in a super gallop this morning. The kiwi import has his 2nd Australian start on Wednesday at Canterbury with Nash Rawiller in the saddle and I couldn't be happier with the way he is going. Tinjirarni bowled along strongly for young Scott whilst Just Ablaze and Sacred Rock were a perfect pair as were Power of Flight and Brandt. Essence of Time and Show Dancer delighted Mark and Ben with the young apprentice saying he has a wonderful action. Rock of Kimberlite, Mark said was a surprise on how he found the line so strongly. Steve was over the moon with Our Freedom whilst Hint of Glory and Ms Chiefbound were a great pair. Ben said the Star Thoroughbreds filly Maskhara is a beautiful filly. The track rode super on Saturday but terrible today at Warwick Farm. After a shower of rain it cut up badly and became a big disadvantage for the visiting horses. Many of you may of noticed Singo's filly More Joyous and More Strawberries wearing different colours which represent the gut foundation which is an organisation trying to raise money for colon cancer. Singo and Gerry feel passionate about this cause and want we the public to become more aware. As John told me today, this cancer kills more people than any other. Successful Western Australian breeder Craig Thompson and part-owner of champion Theseo sent me a text on Saturday night - "You would take him as a mate in the trenches at Gallipoli." Steve Dennett returned from Melbourne with Hugo, Joku and Cannonball. Both horses respectively will be spelled. Steve said he has not seen the volume of water ever before when he passed through Wagga on the way home and he should know as he has been going this route for the last 17 years. The stable is back on track winning three of the five Group races on Saturday at the Farm and they were all courageous wins. Dreamscape who has been a little inconsistent as a younger horse has matured into the real thing. More Joyous was exactly that giving John something to be happy about then the Star champion Theseo returned with all the qualities that have made him a real favourite at the stables. Beaten off by Rangirangdoo in the straight Theseo dug so deep and with Nash in superlative riding form the two of them pounced and he fought back like a caged lion to win his fourth G1 event. John O'Shea filly Solar Charged is the real thing and her owner Peter Horwitz knows exactly how to win a Golden Slipper as he has already won with Sir Dapper and ran a close 2nd to Dance Hero with the fillies sire Charge Forward. I rang Peter this morning and asked him if he bought or bred her and with great pride he told me he had bred her and raced her mother and grandmother. What a remarkable effort and I now know how he feels as my father had the great pleasure of owning, breeding and training Bounding Away. I remember when bloodstock agent Richard Galpin rang TJ days before the Slipper offering a huge amount of money for Bounding Away to go to America. It did not take TJ long to make his decision saying that he had waited his whole life to breed, own and train a champion knowing she had a great chance to win this prestigious race which she duly romped in, in the Slipper of 1986. With Easter fastly approaching I will soon commence my visits around the studs of Scone. One of our favourite apprentices who enjoyed a short stint with us is Jake Noonan son of globetrotting trainer Tony Noonan. Young Jake landed his first metropolitan winner today at Moonee Valley. Well done Jake.
