My boyfriend as I call him - Geffen, greeted the judge today at Gosford and I could not have been more delighted. I must say there have been a number of people in the stable who had been pulling on his tail; one even went so far as to suggest he be nominated for the pink stiletto race! Young Ben Looker showed faith winning two trials aboard the son of Flying Spur and declaring "I want to ride him Gai wherever he goes." Well Ben did us proud with an excellent ride taking the sit in 4th position before peeling wide to score by a short neck. Young Ben is looking far a field and moves on from his three months loan at Tulloch Lodge tomorrow. He's unsure of his future and has been a little homesick but what a lovely thank you to the boy and his master that he was able to ride a winner as a departing gesture. He has always been a fan, like the lady trainer of young Geffen and always had great belief in the gelding's ability so it was with great satisfaction we watched him win. Riding a winner at his first ride for the stable then riding a winner on his last day with the stable was most appropriate and all at the stable wish Ben the best of luck in the future. Kiss from a Rose just keeps improving and this morning partnered by Maybe I the 3yo filly hit the line strongly on the Kensington track. The filly will take a big step up in grade when she contests the Eskimo Prince on Saturday at Randwick with Tim Clark in the saddle. Zutara ridden by Mark worked with Charing Cross. Mark balanced Zutara as she came up the last 600m and she was his best of the morning. Star Thoroughbreds Charing Cross was nothing short of eye-catching at his debut trial at Rosehill last Friday but was left a little flat footed early in the straight before Blake Spriggs woke him up and he found the line, flying over the last 50m. Mutamayez is a dream of a colt and the way he found the line this morning only confirmed his ability. Fit and Ready is built like a colt and is by the famous sire More than Ready and she is on target to make her debut on Saturday week. Dear Gai, I can't say thank-you enough to you and all the staff for the way you have all worked to get Theseo back to being the gallant winner he is today. We knew that if anyone could bring him back you and your team would. I had the most exciting and wonderful day on Saturday. When Theseo came into the mounting yard it looked like something out of a movie set. The way Steffanie had presented him, was someting special. O nce again, thank you so much for all you do, not only for the horses, but for the owners and Thoroughbred Racing. And a big thanks to Steve for all that he has done and to Nash, (Our Hero), who knows just how to get Theseo over the line.
Best wishes to all from the Gold Coast,
